[REVIEW] Luscious Flawless Finish Powder + Foundation in Warm Ivory

Friday, May 25, 2012 Sidrah!!!! 15 Comments

I always look forward to new products from Luscious Cosmetics. They continuously come out with great range perfect for Pakistani women focusing on olive undertones and the scorching heat in the county. The newest product released is the Flawless Finish Powder + Foundation, promising to be an all in one product by using it wet or dry.
Luscious Flawless Finish Powder + Foundation in Warm Ivory
Luscious Flawless Finish Powder
A powder and foundation (also known as 2 Way Cake) combined in one portable compact for long lasting and skin-perfecting results. This silky and lightweight powder foundation can be used wet or dry, depending on the desired coverage, for a polished and flawless complexion.
For Natural Coverage: Apply over a primer with a dry sponge or powder brush to even out skin tone.
For Full Coverage: Apply with a damp sponge for a flawless matte finish.
Dermatologist Tested
Non-Comedogenic
Suitable for all skin types
Luscious Flawless Finish Powder + Foundation in Warm Ivory
Packaging:
Like all Luscious products, they always come out with unique packaging seen in international brands. I love the large mirror that comes with it, you can easily see your entire face. The lid does not close securely, I would travel with this product and keep it in the box. It comes with a sponge which is a bit stiff to use, I prefer carrying a powder puff.
Luscious Flawless Finish Powder + Foundation in Warm Ivory
0.5 Warm Ivory has more yellow undertone compared to 0 Ivory. I was sure that Warm Ivory would be a perfect match since Ivory is my shade for the other foundations and powders in the Luscious range. Warm Ivory gives a nice added glow to my skin without making it look chalky.

Luscious Flawless Finish Powder + Foundation in Warm Ivory Swatch

To Sum it up:
I was expecting a cream to powder foundation when I first heard about the Luscious Flawless Finish Powder, its bascially suppose to be a cake foundation since its a powder formula but you can use it wet. I could not (and still can't) figure out how to pick up the product with a wet brush or sponge. I tried wetting the sponge that came with the compact and then dipping it into the product and I was unable to get any product on the sponge, I was just left with a hard crusty layer. The sponge that comes with the compact is really stiff to use, it doesn't blend the product into my skin when I try to buff out the product. It just didn't work for me!

This is amazing to use dry, I love the finish and its long wearing ladies!! For my oily t-zone this has been the perfect product. If you have an oily t-zone I recommend using this and Luscious Cosmetics Whitening Base. I skip out on moisturizer and I was amazed at how matte my skin was even after 4 hours. I applied both of the products at 7am and by 1pm I could see the powder was still in place.

I really like the powder, its a definite hit for me! Its a soft texture and it doesn't fall out all over the place when you swirl your brush in which is my pet peeve, I hate seeing powder all over my compacts.

Warm Ivory is a tad bit too light for me but it gives a radiant glow to my skintone, it evens out the yellowyness in my complexion without looking ghostly. The coverage is amazing, I like how natural the finish is. There are 6 shades available, and I'm pretty sure you will be able to find your perfect match.

It works great for doing touch ups through the day, it doesn't leave behind that dusty/powder look. For a heavy coverage I use a powder puff and for medium coverage I use a flat top powder brush to buff in the product all over.
If you have a hard time using liquid foundation because of your oily skin, this is the product for you! It works amazingly well on keeping my face matte, even with the Karachi summer heat.

Likes:
- Long wearing
- Great for oily t-zone
- Mattifying
- Doesn't Cake up
- Medium to full coverage powder
- Evens out skintone

Dislikes:
- Flimsy Packaging
- Included sponge doesn't blend well
- Difficult to use wet

[OUTFIT] Color Blocking

Thursday, May 24, 2012 Sidrah!!!! 9 Comments

A few weeks ago I visited Brands Just Pret to check out Nida Ali's Rang Barsay collection (read). I really liked her use of vibrant shades of pinks and blues and the detailing in her outfits. My outfit for today is from the collection, the fabric used for the dress is a soft linen material. It has minimal embellishment on the front with lace and beads. The finishing touches on the sleeves and bottom  gives the outfit a color blocking feel to it.
I paired the outfit with a plain white churiddar pajama and a contrasting blue/green chuhndirri dupatta. The outfit uses different shades of pink along with some detailing done with vibrant blue. The outfit is very loose fitting, great for summer. The fabric is super comfortable to wear, its light and flowy which is nice for everyday wear. I'm not a huge fan of the unfinished look, since the finishing of the sleeves kept getting caught in the beading work on the front. The cut of the shirt is really unique. It's not an a-line shirt but its cut in a way that the fabric gives a nice flow. The other outfits in her pret wear collection uses the same material and color palette, which is great for staying in trend for the hot summer weather!

Available: Brands Just Pret in Dolmen Clifton Mall- Visit their Webstore
Price: 4,500Rs

For more information you can find Nida Ali on Facebook as well as Brands Just Pret on Facebook.

Have you tried color blocking your outfit this summer?

My Most Well-Loved Makeup Products!

Wednesday, May 23, 2012 Sidrah!!!! 12 Comments

When I fall in love with a product...I fall hard! Recently I have been using these products non-stop. Once I find a product that works amazingly well I don't have the heart to let it go, kinda sounds like a long-term relationship! Today I wanted to share a set of products that I have been using every day for the past few months.

My Loves:
  • Liz Earle Sheer Skin Tint (02 Beige)  reviewed here
  • Essence Gel Eyeliner (Midnight in Paris) reviewed here
  • Loreal True Match Powder (Ivory)
  • Silk Naturals Cream Concealer (Shade 2)  reviewed here
  • MUA Blush (Shade 4) Swatches here
  • Luscious Signature Lipstick (Coral Pink)  reviewed here
  • Luscious Lip Couture (En Vogue) reviewed here
  • MUA Heaven and Earth Palette  Swatches here
  • Sleek Oh So Special Palette
  • Becute Lip Liner (Glamour)
  • Avon Ultra Luxueux Eye Liner (Dark Brown)
  • Avon Glimmerstick Eye Liner (Blackest Black)  reviewed here
  • Avon Wash Off Waterproof Mascara (Black)

Becute Lip Liner (Glamour)
My go to lip liner, it is the perfect shade of my natural lip color. I pair this with any lipstick to make it long wearing. Some lip liners that I have tried are so creamy that the tip breaks off, I don't have that problem with Becute Lip liners. They are creamy to apply and are inexpensive! You can find this for about 50rs at any makeup counter.
Avon Ultra Luxueux Eye Liner (Dark Brown)
I stole this eye liner from my mom! I never wear any other eyeliner shade besides black but I love wearing a dark brown on the lower lash line on days when I get too lazy to wear eyeliner on the upper lash line. I swipe on mascara and pop a bit of brown eyeliner on the outer corner and I am done!
Avon Glimmerstick Eye Liner (Blackest Black)  Reviewed here
A great long wearing eyeliner for everyday use. I use this on the waterline, if I need the color to be more darker, I dip the eyeliner in my gel liner and apply it, works wonders!
Avon Wash Off Waterproof Mascara (Black)
With my glasses I can never wear mascara's that lengthen, this Avon mascara I found at Naheed's Super Store a few months ago. It works great to hold my lash curl and it doesn't flake off through the day. This was priced at 200rs.

Liz Earle Sheer Skin Tint (02 Beige)  Reviewed here
I always prefer wearing a light foundation for the daytime. I don't know what it is about this product but it makes my skin look better. It add's a slightest hint of color, I top it off with a powder otherwise it does make my skin look too dewy.
Essence Gel Eyeliner (Midnight in Paris) Reviewed here
I can't rave enough about this product. Long-wearing, jet-black, doesn't smudge. I've had it months and the product is just as creamy and easy to apply since the day I bought it, it's available at Naheed's for 460Rs.
Loreal True Match Powder (Light Ivory W2)
I bought this powder more than a year ago, in attempts to clear out my makeup collection I wanted to finish what was left in the pan. I forgot how much I liked the finish of this powder, it doesn't look cakey, it blends in perfectly with my skin tone and leaves a soft coverage. Its not that long wearing, it lasts up to 4-5 hours with a primer.
Silk Naturals Cream Concealer (Shade 2) Reviewed here
I absolutely love this concealer! Its so rich and creamy, blends in evenly with my skin. It hides my dark circles very well and doesn't crease up into my fine lines, it lasts all day on me when set with a powder
MUA Blush (Shade 4) Swatches here
I love this blush by MUA, super pigmented and easy to apply. It blends in evenly, it is not the most long wearing blush since it fades away after about 4 hours or so. You can purchase MUA in Pakistan at Just4girls.Pk for 200Rs

Luscious Signature Lipstick (Coral Pink)  Reviewed here
Out of the 5 lipsticks from Luscious's Signature Range I was able to try out, Coral Pink has been my perfect shade for the summer. It's the perfect shade of coral with a rosy pink touch.
Luscious Lip Couture (En Vogue) Reviewed here
By far one of my most used lip products, I am not a lip gloss fan at all anymore. The creamy consistency of the lip couture adds a nice sheen to the lips, I dab a bit of En Vogue on my lips over a lip liner so the pink looks more wearable.

Sleek Oh So Special Palette
My first Sleek palette and its been my most used product. The mixture of matte and shimmer shades are extremely versatile. I use the dark brown mixed with the medium shade of brown for my brows, it looks so natural compared to using a pencil to fill them in. I like using the lighter shimmery shades all over the lid if I want to add a bit of sparkle to my eyes! *note the missing mirror from the palette, it came broken when I got the parcel :(
MUA Heaven and Earth Palette Swatched here
Last but not least, my most used eyeshadow palette! I love the creamy texture to these, they apply without falling all over the place. Some of these shades I use on its own all over my eye lid, the shades are by far fun to use if you don't prefer to use colors so often.

So I hope you all enjoyed my most loves products! What products have you been in love with lately?

Eye Product,

[REVIEW] Krave Minerale Eyeshadows

Saturday, May 19, 2012 Sidrah!!!! 13 Comments

Mineral makeup is definitely a product worth trying. As I've mentioned before, I am a huge fan of mineral products. I love it when new brands pop up and come up with unique shades of eyeshadows. Today I will be reviewing a new collection of eyeshadow from a Philippine brand Krave Minerale.
Krave Minerale Eyeshadows
About Krave Minerale:
KRAVE MINERALE COSMECEUTICALS is a Philippine company & brand of mineral make up & organic skin care products that are all formulated & manufactured in the USA by a GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) compliant facility. Products are imported from the US and legally distributed in the Philippines with all the necessary regulatory requirements from the United States of America and from the companies that formulates & manufactures the whole product line. The ingredients in all our products have been assessed, approved and certified in compliance with the EU Cosmetic Safety Regulations and US-FDA (The United States- Food and Drugs Administration).
SATIN SHEER MINERAL EYE SHADOWS
100% VEGAN & GLUTEN FREE
HYPOALLERGENIC
NON- COMEDOGENIC (won't clog pores)
NON-ACNEGENIC (won't cause acne break outs)
NANO PARTICLE FREE

Accentuate your eyes with our mineral shadows that are extremely long wearing, multi-purpose & range from delicate, soft tones to bold & vibrant hues. Its not too sparkly nor too glittery, just the right amount of sheer you need for a natural allure.
The skin in our eye lids, crease and under the eyes are too delicate that due to the use of chemically-formulated eye shadows/glitters/liners/mascara will eventually cause fine lines, wrinkles, and dark under eye circles.
Krave Minerale's Mineral Satin Sheer Eye shadows does not contain FD&C dyes or added colorants such as carmine, just pure crushed minerals that will truly enhance and soothes your skin.

APPLICATION:
It can be mixed together to create your personalized shades. Use wet for lining, foiling and layering for dramatic eye effects.

Ingredients
Mica, Boron Nitride, Titanium Dioxide. May Contain: Iron Oxides, Tin Oxide, Ultramarines, Ferric Ferrocyanide

Krave  Minerale  Eyeshadow Swatch
Shades:
Mint Tea- Shimmery yellow green
Eclairs- Shimmery deep green
Blue Croissant- Shimmery navy blue
Bubble Gum- Shimmery sea blue
Krave  Minerale  Eyeshadow Swatch
Banana Split- Shimmery butter yellow
Gold Puff- Shimmery bronzey gold
Silver Biscotti-  Shimmery dark grey
Grape Jam-  Shimmery plum
Krave  Minerale  Eyeshadow Swatch
Black Coffee- Matte black
Matte Mocha- Matte dark brown
Vanilla Cake- Satin off-white

To Sum it up:
I swatched the eye shadows by adding a drop of water to the product with a flat shader brush to give a better color pay offIt is very sheer on its own and the camera was not picking up the color. You do have to layer this on dry about 2-3 times to get the right pigmentation.

Mineral makeup is not everyone's cup of tea. For me I prefer the finish of mineral eyeshadows than pressed pressed eyeshadows because its easy get the right consistency. For foiling the product (applying it wet) it gives the best color payoff! It gives a gorgeous metallic finish. You can always go for a soft wash of color on your lids, do make sure to apply a primer so the product can adhere to your skin.

If you don't own an eyeshadow primer then I found that using a white eyeshadow pencil or eyeliner works really well to getting the product to stick and last all day. Otherwise the eyeshadow will start to fade after a few hours.

The 11 shades are all very versatile, each shade can be used on its own since it gives dimension to your lids. The only difficult shade to work with is Black Coffee, it was very difficult to swatch since its very chalky. Matte shadows have a tendency to be difficult to work with. The shadows are all similar in finish except for Vanilla Cake which has the slightest sheen to it, Black Coffee and Matte Mocha are both pure matte shadows.
Likes:
- Wide shade selection
- Metallic shades are wearable.
- Easy to apply wet

Dislikes:
- Matte shades difficult to work with
- Have to be layered if used dry
- Requires a eyeshadow primer

Face Product,

[REVIEW] NYX Stay Matte But Not Flat Powder Foundation in Medium Beige

Friday, May 18, 2012 Sidrah!!!! 6 Comments

Powder foundation is must in my everyday makeup routine because of my oily t-zone. The NYX Stay Matte But Not Flat Powder Foundation looked like a product that would work really well for me! Promising to be Sweat and Water Resistant along with being an HD product, sounds like something perfect for summer!

What NYX Say:
Get the matte finish that features effortless, natural-looking hues to help you achieve a flawless complexion. The Stay Matte Not Flat Powder Foundation comes in a variety of gorgeous shades that provide the perfect finish to flatter all skin tones!

  • Powder foundation duo that provides perfect, full coverage and an on-trend matte finish

  • Oil-free formulation is designed for all skin types

  • Available in a range of gorgeous shades that flatter a variety of skin tones with a flawless finish

  • Get the matte finish that features effortless, natural-looking hues to help you achieve a flawless complexion

  • The Stay Matte Not Flat Powder Foundation comes in a variety of gorgeous shades that provide the perfect finish to flatter all skin tones!

    Directions
Dot on face and use fingers, sponge or brush to blend. Works perfectly with NYX concealers and powders.

  • Packaging:
Not the most easiest product to travel with since its a large compact. Its on the chunky side. I love that it comes with a big mirror and there is a separate compartment for the powder puff so that your product doesn't contaminate. It comes with a round sponge with I loath! I can't stand sponges with powder products because of how the sponge and powder feel when I apply it on my skin. For touch ups I use a powder puff.
NYX Stay Matte But Not Flat Powder Foundation- Medium Beige

NYX Stay Matte But Not Flat Powder Foundation- Medium Beige

NYX Stay Matte But Not Flat Powder Foundation- Medium Beige
    To Sum it up:
With my oily t-zone, I can never skip out on applying powder. With the NYX Stay Matte But Not Flat Powder Foundation I love the finish of the powder but after about 2-3 hours my t-zone just washes it away. It doesn't help to keep my oil down, it stays matte for about 2-3 hours until my t-zone stars acting up! Especially with the weather, I would recommend this for the winters.

Medium Beige is the absolute perfect shade for my skin for between light and medium complexion. I like that there is a huge variety of shades available so you will find a shade perfect for you. The powder has a soft silky texture. This doesn't give a chalky feeling to your skin when applied. The powder has some 'sparkly' particles but its extremely fine-- hardly noticeable. It gives the slightest glow to your skin while keeping it matte which is the reason why it won't make your skin look chalky. It works well for touch ups with throughout the day since it doesn't cake up, no matter how much product you apply. I tried it over a few different primers and the results were pretty much the same.

I use the ELF Powder brush with this foundation, it picks up a good amount of powder for a medium coverage. If you swirl your brush around in the product too much you will have tons of fallout in the pan. I press the brush down in the product, since its has flat top so I suggest not to swirl but tap into the powder.

I have been using this product for less then a month now and I have already hit PAN! If you plan on using this on its own then you will end up hitting the pan quickly. I found that this does not work well with a liquid foundation, for my oily skin I tend to not use a medium or full coverage foundation. This will not help to keep your t-zone oil-free. Also I didn't like the sheer results of using it with a light hand, it just looked like I wasn't wearing anything.

This product didn't wow me which was disappointing. If you have normal type skin then I suggest to go for it.

    Likes:
    - Doesn't leave you with a cake-face
    - Mattifying
    - Great for touch ups
    - Wide variety of shades

    Dislikes:
    - Not long wearing
    - Chunky packaging
    - Not a lot of product
    - A lot of fall out

    [OUTFIT] Aztec Purple and Brown

    Monday, May 14, 2012 Sidrah!!!! 6 Comments

I love wearing easy flowing outfits for the summer. Today I am wearing a eggplant plum outfit with a bronze embroidery all over the front, collar and sleeves. Its made out of linen material which is great for summer, its very easy flowing. Change Clothing offer a wide range of shirts, trousers, and purses.

The outfit is super comfortable to wear, I really love the fabric since I'm not a huge fan of lawn and I like how easy flowing this shirt is. The length is not too long, its just right. I paired it with a bronze dupata and light beige churidar pajama. I wore a pair of comfortable brown sandals.

    Hair Products,

    [REVIEW] Sexy Hair- Darn Straight

    Monday, May 14, 2012 Sidrah!!!! 9 Comments

It's true when they say you always want the hair type that you don't have. With my naturally wavy hair, sometimes it ends up in a frizzy mess if I don't use the right product. The Sexy Hair Straightening and Polishing Lotion offers to keep hair straight and manageable with this lightweight product.
    Sexy Hair- Darn Straight
    Sexy Hair- Darn Straight
DARN STRAIGHT™ is a conditioning straightening lotion that provides temporary smoothing and extra protection from heat by infusing nourishing vitamins and antioxidants into the hair cuticle. Ideal for fine/medium hair.

    Instructions:
Apply to damp hair and comb through. Blow dry with a large round or paddle brush to combat curls and frizz while protecting against heat-styling damage.
    Sexy Hair- Darn Straight
You get a good amount of product, considering that you need the smallest amount all over your hair. The product is a creamy texture which works really well to evenly coat your hair.
    Sexy Hair- Darn Straight
    To Sum it up:
Depending on how I dry my hair, it usually gets a bit frizzy at the ends. With the Sexy Hair Darn Straight I've used it with a blow dryer and also when I air dry my hair. This works average both ways. I don't find that it does an amazing job, if you have frizzy hair it will work to make it more manageable. I recommend using the smallest amount and start at the ends and working the product up to midway of your hair. It doesn't leave my hair sticky which I hate with most products. It leaves my hair with a soft texture. Just don't apply this at the root of your hair, it'll leave you looking greasy.
I like how this doesn't have a strong scent, its very light. As far as keeping my hair straight, it could not hold up with the Karachi weather if you are out most of the day. It'll work if you're in an air conditioned room all day. I like how this is a multipurpose product, having a heat protectant as well as smoothing out your hair.
    Likes:
    - Smooths hair
    - Built in Heat Protectant
    - Not strong scented

    Dislikes:
    - Can get greasy if applied too much
    - Doesn't keep hair straight

[NAILS] OPI The Muppets Mini Collection

    Wednesday, May 09, 2012 Sidrah!!!! 9 Comments

Who didn't love The Muppets growing up! I was such a fan of the Muppets when I was little, especially Kermit and Miss Piggy! So I absolutely love it when brands get together and create a collection based on our favorite characters. The OPI Muppettes Mini Nail Lacquers contain 4 unique polishes inspired by the show.
     OPI Muppettes Mini Nail Lacquers
     OPI Muppettes Mini Nail Lacquers

Wocka Wocka!, Excuse Moi!, Designer... de Better!, Warm & Fozzie
    Wocka Wocka!
The most opaque out of the 4, its a true blood red with the tiniest sparkles. It applies like a dream, very rich and creamy. You can get away with just one coat. I swatched it with 2 coats. Wouldn't this be perfect for a bridal manicure? Its the perfect red.
    OPI The Muppets Wocka Wocka

    Excuse moi!
I call this confetti polish!! My absolute favorite out of the bunch. Its a light pink jelly with tones of multicolored sparkles. I was thinking this would be the sheerest but it was opaque in 2 coats. I love how the glitter specks aren't spaced out, you get a tone of glitter in each swipe.
    OPI The Muppets Excuse Moi!

    Designer... de better!
This is a pale Gold with a hint of silver sparkles. This was the sheerest of the bunch, I applied about 4 coats for the swatch. It has a true metallic finish.
OPI The Muppets Designer... de Better!
    Warm & Fozzie:
True Bronze with a hint of red and gold shimmer. It has a metallic finish. This is just as sheer as Designer... de better!, I applied 3 coats for the swatch.
OPI The Muppets Warm & Fozzie

    Price: 1500Rs
