Quick Tip

[Quick Tip] Protect Your Skin with Clear Nail Polish

Wednesday, July 27, 2011 Sidrah!!!! 9 Comments

Hey everyone!
So I've noticed on twitter that some of you guys have jewelry problems, either them leaving a green stain on your skin or having an allergic reaction to them..so I have a quick tip for you all...

CLEAR NAIL POLISH!
It is a lifesaver, when i tried this out I was skeptical but it works... I always love to wear rings during university but my finger away turned green due to the sweat and humidity here..

So I use Avon's Speed Dry Top Coat. This works great because it will dry really quick, for other polishes you might need to wait a few mins for it to dry.
So what I do is I use a paint brush, I prefer using a stiff brush so it will coat the piece evenly.
Now you can do this if you are allergic to certain metals. This works great on earrings! I haven't tried this on necklaces though. I do one coat and then once it dries I do a second coat.

Just make sure you DO NOT leave it to dry on a piece of paper, you want to use some plastic sheet so that the polish will not stick on the paper.

So I hope this tip is useful for you all! Have you tried this technique before? If so let me know and if you haven't are you willing to try it out?
Have a beautiful day!

[eyes] From the Muddy Banks

Tuesday, July 26, 2011 Sidrah!!!! 7 Comments

Hey everyone!

So for today's look i wanted to do a deep plum look but it turned out more of a muddy plum lol.

I used 3 different shadows for this look, Bare Escentuals Gossip (shimmery grey-plum), Bare Escentuals Kir Royale(plum) and Avon's Luxe Life Duo (champage and velvet plum)

I used Gossip in the middle, Kir Royale paired with Velvet Plum(matte) in inner and outer corner. I was going for a pop of shimmer in the middle but it didnt turn out that vibrant!

I think I sould've added a touch of matte black to make the inner and outer corner darker but i always fear matte black because I might end up putting too much.
Nonetheless i would appreciate ur feedback!

The following products were used:
·         LinerRimmel Kohl pencil in Jet Black, Etude Liquid Liner in Black
·         Mascara- Bare Escentuals Flawless Definition in Black
·         ShadowsBare Escentuals Gossip, Bare Escentuals Kir Royale and Avon's Luxe Life Duo (champagne and velvet plum)
So I hope u guys like this dirty look (lolz) Please feel free to leave any comments suggestions!

[Guest Post] 5 Top Products for a Beach-Ready Face

Thursday, July 21, 2011 Sidrah!!!! 4 Comments

Hey everyone! So recently I was contacted by the lovely Lauren from Betterfly.com, she is a make-up artist who wanted to share with you all some quick tips on how to keep your face looking gorgeous even during the heat!

So you’re off to the beach (lucky you!) and it’s forecasted to be a sweltering 95 degrees and sunny. Is applying makeup a lost cause? Are your bare lips and blemishes bound to be on display for all to see? Not so fast—there are at least five essential products that every makeup-savvy girl should have for a day at the beach.

  • Tinted moisturizer: Forget foundation! It’s likely to melt off at the first sign of heat. Instead, smooth on some tinted moisturizer with a high SPF (at least 15) to protect your face and give it a little glow.
  • Oil absorbing sheets: Once you start sweating, your face can get super oily. Keep a packet of these oil absorbing sheets around for touch ups.
  • Blemish control: Regardless of where you’re going, no one wants to go there with blemishes. Use a cream concealer to lightly cover dark spots and then use some press-on powder to help make it stay.
  • Pale shadow: Should your makeup start to get melty, the creases and stains to your skin are going to be a lot more noticeable if you use dark colors. Opt for pink and peach tones that go well with your skin, and resist from piling them on heavily.
  • Waterproof products: This is an obvious tip, but important nonetheless. There are some awesome and inexpensive waterproof mascara options out there. My current favorite is by Maybelline.

No matter how you do your makeup, the #1 tip is to always wear sunscreen to protect your beautiful skin and keep it looking youthful for years to come!

[Summer Favs] Face Products

Tuesday, July 19, 2011 Sidrah!!!! 7 Comments

Hello my lovlies!

So as a part of my summer favorite series I’m now going to share with you all my favorite face products. This is the second installment, you can read my post on my fav Summer Lip Products here

L’Oreal Infallible foundation in No. 606 Natural Buff (USD $7.99+)
I always look for products for products that already includes SPF because for me it’s easier to use just one product instead of 2. It has SPF 18 which is great for daytime use, the problem with foundation is that it will feel really heavy on your skin. This is a full coverage foundation, its a bit thick so by mixing it with equal parts moisturizer it gives a flawless finish. It blends must easier with the skin. I use one and a half pump of the foundation and what I do is I dip my foundation brush in the jar and then mix it on my hand. I use the Pond's White Beauty.

Pond's White Beauty (PKR Rs. 180+)
I really enjoy this moisturizer, I tried the other kind that comes in a tube and the consistency of it was really thick. But this one is really smooth and has a very milky texture and feels really clean on your skin. Just don’t apply too much.
As a tinted moisturizer I mix equal parts of the L’Oreal Infalliable foundation and the mosturizer and it works really well! It just gives a very clean and fresh look as i mentioned earlier.

St. Ives Mineral Clay Firming Mask (PKR Rs. 240+)
I use this mask once every week to remove build up oil. This works great but it does dry out my skin so I don’t use it so often. The texture of the mask is very thick, its best to apply it all over the face and neck. The mask hardens in about 15-20 mins. Its best to wash it off when you are in the shower because it's pretty tough to wash it off just over the sink.

Clean & Clear Oil-Free Oxygenating Ultra-Light Moisturizer SPF 15 (USD $6.99+)
I find myself using this product a lot lately, it has a very light texture to it. It absorbs really well into my skin and it is really light. This is oil free so it doesn't make your skin feel too greasy. This is great for everyday use if you go to work or school.

Clean & Clear Deep Action Cream Cleanser (PKR Rs. 240+)
Again with the Oil-Free products, this is by far my favorite cleanser during the summer. It gives the most refreshing/cooling feeling, I really enjoy this product if you need something to wash your face after a hot day! It has a very nice and fluffy texture and best part is that you only need the smallest amount of the product to get your entire face cleansed.

Sun-Care Lotion SPF 30 (sample product)
I use different products depending on where ill be going in the day and for how long. If I’m outside more in the sun ill only use the sunscreen and skip moisturizing and foundation. This product my dad bought for me from a local pharmacy. It works really well, only use a small amount of this product because your skin will feel greasy if you apply too much.

[Summer Favs] Lip Products

Saturday, July 16, 2011 Sidrah!!!! 11 Comments

I'm in love with summer, especially when some nights it ends up raining. So I wanted to share with you all my summer go-to products. I’ve been seeing a lot of summer posts from bloggers for lips, cheeks, eyes and nails.

I’ll be doing some posts on my favorite lips, face, and eyes products for the summer. It’ll span out throughout the week so stay tuned!

So lets get started, today I will be showing you all my top lip products for the summer! The products will be divided into a few sections, lip glosses, lip balms, lipsticks, lip scrub and lip liner. The lip colors are very sheer, not a lot of sparkles and they are really natural for the summer. I rarely use lipsticks over the summer but if i need some color i will pick the Bronze shade by Avon, it is probably my favorite shade if i need some color. I tend to avoid reds or browns in the summer mainly due to the fear of it melting off my face lol. The shades are very tones down but overall I like a lot of pinks in the summer.

Haul

[Haul] Non-Makeup Products (my first haul!!)

Friday, July 15, 2011 Sidrah!!!! 10 Comments

Hey everyone! So today I’m going to be showing you guys my first non-makeup haul.

So I bought a few new items and a few items that I haven't used in a while. During the summer I break out a lot and so I bought a few items that'll help me cope with unruly acne!

So I purchased
  • YC Whitening Facial Scrub with Lemon and Honey Extract
I bought this product on a whim, it was sealed so I couldn't open it until I got home. And why is it that every lemon scented product smells like dishwasher soap?? I did try this product but I really wish I would’ve purchased the Cherry scented one :( I used this product at night and in the morning and it felt pretty okay. This product MIGHT work for ppl with sensitive skin who need a facial scrub since the product feels more like a face wash then a scrub (it doesn't have a lot of scrubby beads).
  • Clean & Clear Oil Controlling Toner
I've used this product before a few years ago and it works great. It really does reduce oil once you use it, my skin becomes so oily during the summers that even a few minutes after washing my face the oil's build up immediately.
  • Misline Acne Clear Facial Foam
I've used the Acne Clear Bar before and I noticed it really helped reduce acne, I didn't use it everyday only every third or second day since it dried my skin a lot. This promises Oil control so that’s exactly what I need!
  • Pond's Bare and Repair Conditioning Eye Make-up Remover
I've never used this product before so i'll definitely be doing a review. For almost 2 years now I've been using Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Coconut Oil to remove makeup and I've noticed a great improvement in the texture of my eye lids as well as my eye lashes have grown a lot. So ill try this and see if I'll replace my natural oils. This product promises to moisture the skin and leaves it feeling firmer. So ill do an in depth review on this product after using it for sometime.

  • Suave Naturals Juicy Green Apple Shampoo
When I took a whiff of this shampoo my mouth watered. It smells sooo scrumptious, just imagine being at a farm and smelling freshly picked green apples, its just soo wonderful. I picked up the shampoo since I've been using the conditioner for a while now.

So that was my first Haul! Hope u all found it informative!

[eyes] Not Safe for Work

Monday, July 11, 2011 Sidrah!!!! 8 Comments

Hello my lovelies,

so the weekend is over and I don’t know about you all but I’m NOT looking forward to the rest of the week!!

I decided to do something very very gothic without black shadows but just some heavy black kohl liner in the waterline and tightline.
With a bronzy brown on the lid, the base color for the brown I used a very creamy Black Khajal by Vonger and 2 shades of red on the crease. I first applied the lightest red then the darkest on the crease then the brown for the lid color.
I didn’t apply a highlight color but just make sure you BLEND the shadows up to your brow bone, you can even use your face powder for that if you need to tone it down.
Not safe for work indeed.
The following products were used:
·         LinerRimmel Kohl pencil in Jet Black
·         Mascara- Maybelline Great Lash in Black
·         Shadows: 2 red shadows and a dark brown
·         Base:  Vonger  Black Khajal
So I hope u guys like this look! It was super easy to do! Please feel free to leave any comments suggestions!
