Essence,

[NAILS] Essence Colour & Go in What Do U Think?

Monday, November 28, 2011 Sidrah!!!! 16 Comments

Hello Everyone!
Another day another nail polish! Today I painted my nails a really pretty peachy orange shade from Essence Colour & Go line, the shade What Do U Think? applies really smoothly. My application took about 2-3 coats to get the shade really opaque and without a top coat it dries really nicely. The polish did dry really quick, in a couple of minutes.
This polish was sent to me from a fellow blogger in Austria so I am unsure about the availability of Essence internationally, they are available online at Ulta in America which you can check out here for $0.99.

Hope you all liked this nail of the day. Feel free to leave any comments or suggestions below!

Liz Earle,

[REVIEW] Liz Earle Deep Cleansing Mask

Friday, November 25, 2011 Sidrah!!!! 14 Comments

Face masks are a staple in my skin care routine. I always love using clay masks in particular, although they are a bit drying I find that using clay masks have helped my skin be free from acne. So when I got the chance to try out the Liz Earle Deep Cleansing Mask I knew I would be expecting similar effects. My skin has become familiar with the effects of clay masks, they are not meant for everyone. They leave your skin really dry. Face masks are great to remove dirt and excess oil. Liz Earle have 3 face masks in their range, the Deep Cleansing Mask promises to remove excess oil and eliminating impurities.

Deep Cleansing Mask™

Liz Earle says:

Problem: oily, combination and problem-prone skin.
Solution: this highly concentrated clay and manuka honey mask helps draw out impurities and excess oil to leave skin balanced, calm and clear.
Smooth over face and neck as an all over face treatment, or to target specific problem areas.
Naturally active ingredients include green clay to draw out impurities, soothing manuka honey and propolis and rose-scented geranium to help tone and balance.
Not suitable for sensitive skin
How to Use:

  • Apply after cleansing skin, smooth a generous layer of the mask over face and neck, avoiding eyes, lips and hairline. Leave on for 5 – 10 minutes.
  • Wipe away residue with thoroughly rinsed sponges. Splash face with cool water.
  • Use as often as needed: either as an all over face treatment, or to target specific blemishes or problem areas.
  • For best results follow with Instant Boost Skin Tonic and Skin Repair Moisturizer

Packaging:
I really like how some of Liz Earle's products come in a zip pouch, I like to keep my washcloths and sponges sanitary so I always store them in the pouch after they dry. The pouch is great for travelers as well. The kit comes with 2 sponges to cleanse the mask off with, I find that using the sponges really buff's the skin really nicely leaving you with supple skin.
The mask has a strange scent, I can not pinpoint what it is but it is a bit odd. Looking at the ingredients I can guess that it is aloe vera mixture. I don’t mind the scent but it is an just odd smell. Most of the clay masks I have used have a thick consistency, this mask has a liquidy texture which means you have to use more of the product to fully cover your skin. Which in the long run the tube will not last you very long if you use it more than once a week. I find that using approximately 3/4  of a teaspoon covers my skin and neck with a thin layer. It works really well with just a thin layer, it will dry a lot faster this way.
The product gives a nice tingly sensation and after about 5 minutes it begins to dry. It completely dries in about 10 minutes which is exacting what they promise so you don’t have to sit and wait for 20 minutes for this mask to dry. When it does dry I begin to run the sponges under hot water and use it in a circular motion to remove the mask, rinsing masks is tedious so you have to rinse your face a couple of times to completely remove the product.
To Sum it up:
It is suggested for oil, combination and problem prone skin type, if your skin becomes really dry during the winter I would not suggest this product. This product recommends to use it after the Cleanse & Polish then after you rinse off the product use the Skin Boosting Tonic which is exactly what I did and it gave my skin the most supple and soft feeling skin! Even without the Tonic I feel that my skin was clean from impurities. Moisturizing is a must with this product. I really enjoyed using this product, I have never felt my skin feel so soft after using a mask which is a great addition to the product.

Likes:
- Quick drying formula
- Leaves skin feeling soft
- Sponges exfoliate easily

Dislikes:
- Strange scent
- Liquidy formula
- Can be too drying for winter season
- Requires a lot of product for each use

Rating:
4/5

75ml tube kit priced at £13.25

Eye Product,

[REVIEW] Motives® Pressed Eye Shadow & Lustrafy High Definition Mascara

Sunday, November 20, 2011 Sidrah!!!! 11 Comments

Pink Diamond (Pearlized)
Pink Diamond is a light pink with gold shimmer, it has a yellow undertone which shows up more with an eyeshadow base. It is described as a Pearlized shadow. Due to the yellow undertone it doesn't show up on my skin as pigmented as it would with lighter skin tones. Its a shimmery sheer shade which is has a smooth texture, its not powdery or creamy. This shade is not pigmented enough, it hardly shows up with swatched on its own. I had to layer it a few times when I applied it on my eyelid.
Primary Benefits of Motives® Pressed Eye Shadow:
  • Impeccable color retention that does not run or crease so you always look your best
  • Even, smooth and silky application for a glamorous glow
  • Deflects the light away from fine lines, skin imperfections and hyper-pigmentation creating a flawless look
  • Mix and match to create a soft, natural or dramatic look
  • Paraben, fragrance and oil free

What Makes Motives® Pressed Eye Shadow Unique?

Ultra smooth and luxurious these eye shadows are crease-proof and deflect the light away from fine lines to help visibly reduce the signs of aging for a bright, polished look.  The Motives Pressed Eye Shadows have impeccable color retention that does not run or crease so you always look your best. They glide on ultra smooth with incredible hold, a flawless look and a luxurious feel and finish. Take the guesswork out of looking gorgeous. The Motives Pressed Eye Shadow promises to give you the long lasting high color look you have always wanted.

Packaging:
The packaging for all of the products by Motives® are elegant, the sophisticated case is great for traveling and it looks classy! The lid of the case is made from a plastic material that resembles glass. The entire packaging has some weight to it.
When I started using the product I noticed that the eyeshadow pan was loose, the pan was swiveling around so I decided to remove it and glue it back together. To my surprise, when I popped it out it turned out to be a magnetic casing. I haven't read about the packaging having this quality but the pressed eyeshadows and blushes all come in magnetic casing which is great if you want to depot your shadows or reuse the packaging for traveling.
Swatch:
Pink Diamond (Pearlized) shows up best when applied wet, however I do not recommend dipping a wet brush into your eyeshadow because its not meant to be used that way. It will harden the product in the long run. The way I use the product wet is by first loading up the brush with the product dry, taking a drop of water on my hand I press the brush into the water droplet. The eyeshadow base used is Essence You Rock.

To Sum it up:
I think it can be used best as an inner corner highlight or with a white base. I do like the packaging a lot, Reusing the packaging is great aspect of this product however I wouldn't recommend the shade since it isn't pigmented enough. I do like how well the product applies, it goes on really smoothly not powdery or chalky at all and blends out flawlessly.
Likes:
Reusable/Magnetic packaging
- Applies smoothly
- Doesn't crease
- Soft texture
- Blends easily

Dislikes:
- Lacks pigmentation
- Magnet is a bit loose

Midnight Blue
The shade Midnight Blue is somewhat of a Royal/ navy blue tone. Blue Mascara's are a bit new to me, when this was sent to me my first thought was what eyeshadow would work with this?  The blue isn't bright but a toned down shade that still has a pop of color. The packaging is sleek just like all the other Motives products. The handle has a rubber material, when you take the wand out it takes out the exact amount of product which is a great aspect of this mascara. I have always been annoyed with mascaras that dispense more product then you need, leaving you with clumpy lashes. The wand gives you separated and lengthened lashes, it has a flexible plastic wand so you can easily apply the product.
Primary Benefits of Motives® Lustrafy High-Definition Mascara:
  • Will not clump, flake or glob
  • Long-wearing
  • Patented brush provides superior lash definition
What Makes Motives® Lustrafy High-Definition Mascara Unique?
Brushes make all the difference with makeup application, especially with mascara! Our new Lustrafy High-Definition Mascara will define, separate and lengthen your lashes like never before. The secret is in the revolutionary High-Definition brush with rubber bristles that fan out and lengthen each lash as it sweeps on mascara from root to tip. No more clumps or globs, just beautifully defined long lashes.

Available Shades:
  • Onyx
  • Midnight Blue
To Sum it up:
The Lustrafy Mascara does what it promises. The product isn't too wet or too dry, it applies like a breeze on the lashes. The shade Midnight blue shows up really well. The wand is a flexible/rubber material so it bends with your lashes. I do like the length it gives but it didn't give my lashes enough volume.
Likes:
- Lengthens lashes
- Does not clump
- Dries in about 20 seconds (really quick)
- Wand dispenses enough product

Dislikes:
- Hard to apply after product has dried
- Not available in Pakistan

Rating:
4/5

Priced at $16.95
Can be purchased online at Motives webstore

EOTD:
I applied about 3 layers of Pink Diamond without a base, I really had to pack on the color for it to become noticeable. I really like how the Pearlized finish shows up almost 3-Dimensional with the light hitting the center of the lid. For the mascara I applied one coat, when I noticed that I needed another coat it was already dry so it was impossible to run the wand through my lashes, I suggest not waiting for the first coat to dry.
