Blush,

[REVIEW] ELF Studio Blush in Peachy Keen

Monday, October 31, 2011 Sidrah!!!! 13 Comments

I'm not a huge blush fan, to be honest I only reach for 2 blushes that I love wearing. When I got to try out some products from ELF, which I posted a Shop and Tell about here, I had to try a peach color blush. ELF has 2 Peach shade blush's in their Studio range, Candid Coral and Peachy Keen. I decided to go for Peachy Keen because of the subtle shade since Candid Coral is a bit more deeper.

E.L.F Says:

Studio Blush- The soft sheer texture blends into the skin for a silky finish. Designed to be worn alone or layered for more depth. Highlight your complexion with a subtle healthy glow! The Studio Blush line has 11 shades.

The Studio Blush comes in a 4.75g Weight. The packaging doesn't seem cheap at all, it comes with a tiny mirror and its made from really thick plastic which is great for traveling.
Peachy Keen is a Nude shade blush with gold shimmer. Its a sheer product so it won't add color if you have medium to dark skin tone but the shimmer will be noticeable. When blushes are super pigmented it can be a bit difficult controlling how much product you need, since Peachy Keen isn't as pigmented it can be layered as a highlight or paired with another blush. It is super shimmery so I don't think one should layer this blush too much, it's a very subtle blush and will suit more pale skintones.
Swatch:
Compared to Avon's Golden Glow (my all time fav peach blush) its more chalky/powdery. You can see the fallout in the swatch It looks pretty swatched on my wrist, but my face is about 2 shades darker so it doesn't show up as well. It add a nice highlight if I use it with Golden Glow. Golden Glow applies is much more smoother and shows up well on my cheeks. I wanted to compare the blush's to show you which works for my skin-tone as well as the finish of both the blushes.
It is barely noticeable when photographed. I applied 3 layers of the product. The other blush I've tried from ELF is the Studio Blush/Bronzer Duo which I love. Its not as chalky and you can easily control how much product you need.

Likes:
- Sturdy Packaging
- Portable
- Includes a mirror
- Gives a nice glow

Dislikes:
- Sheer
- Powdery

Rating: 3/5

[REVIEW] Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic + Skin Repair Moisturizer

Tuesday, October 25, 2011 Sidrah!!!! 6 Comments

Cleansing your skin should be Step 1 of your skin routine, after that a toner and a moisturizer should be used to get the best results. If you haven't read my previous post on the Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish have a looky here. For today I have a review of 2 products from their skincare range, the  Instant Boost Skin Tonic + Skin Repair Moisturizer. I had a great experience with the Cleanse & Polish which gave me high expectations for the following products. One component in skin care that I feel is critical is how the product makes you feel after an hour or so after using them. I really admire how all the product's I have tried from Liz Earle so far have a refreshing scent, made from natural ingredients you can really smell that no extra ingredients were added just for the scent.

Catrice,

[NAILS] Fall Leaves Inspired using Catrice Polishes

Thursday, October 13, 2011 Sidrah!!!! 8 Comments

As summer ends and autumn arrives, leaves change colors which inspired me to do this nail art. With autumn and fall comes more warmer shades of reds and browns. So for today's post I was inspired by fallen leaves. I took out my nail stamping plates and this is what I came up with.
The Polishes I used are Catrice's 560 Rusty but Sexy and 570 Beavis and Mud-head.

The polishes were from a beauty swap which I posted about here. The orange and brown work really well together since Rusty But Sexy has a bit of shimmer and Beavis & Mud-Head is a creme finish. Some polishes aren't that forgiving when you layer more but Rusty But Sexy is really nice when layered a bit since the stamping image is for french nail art.
I used the m.49 stamping plate form Born Pretty Store. If you want to read my review on the Nail Stamping Kit that I received you can check it out here

You can find Born Pretty Store on Facebook TwitterBlogger and YouTube

Let me know what you think of this nail design!

Wednesday, October 12, 2011 Sidrah!!!! 7 Comments

A few weeks ago me and Caroline from Good Lack, Nail were deciding on a beauty/fashion swap in which I received some makeup goodies and she received some fashion items from me since she wanted some dupattas (which is compared to a long scarf) and earrings. Some of the products she sent were from another swap since she really enjoys trying out different products so its great to see different products. She had sent quite a few things from different brands, so I wanted to show according to the most items I received from the same brand which are Catrice and Essence.

Catrice I heard about from Julia of Misschievous which is only available in Europe so I really wanted to try their eyeshadow and nail polishes. I got quite a few things from Essence, I had only heard about their eyeshadows so it was super nice of her to send me a wide range of products from them.  I'm super happy with what she sent me so I'll do  detailed posts on some products.

Wednesday, October 12, 2011 Sidrah!!!! 15 Comments

I love smokey eyes! For this look I used a shimmery Gold shade all over the lid and a matte black. Best way to achieve a nice smokey eye is to gradually build up the black.

The Products I used:

  • Shimmery Gold and Matte Black
  • Revlon Colorstay Liner in Black
  • Etude Liquid Liner in Black
  • Maybeline Great Lash Mascara in Black
I hope you guys liked this! Have you done a similar look before? Feel free to leave a comment.

Jewelry Shop and Tell!

Monday, October 10, 2011 Sidrah!!!! 9 Comments

Yesterday I was telling everyone on Twitter that I was going shopping at Sunday Bazaar in Defense. I didn't buy as many items as I would have liked because I was feeling really indecisive about what I really wanted. So I got a couple of earrings and rings and a few sets of bangles. Here's what I picked out!

Bangles:
These I wasn't sure about, but my mommy dearest was keen on me having some. They are so super comfortable perfect for wearing during the day. I bought these 4 sets for 280Rs. They were initially 80Rs each but since I bought more he lowered the price.

 Earrings:
I bought these and the rings at this stall which sold some handmade items. I wanted to buy smaller pieces because I have so many large earrings already. These are really unique, the right pair came in about 7 different colors and the left pair also had matching necklace and bracelet. The lady was super nice and helpful so I will definitely make another trip and get some more earrings. These were 60Rs each.
 Rings:
I love big chunky rings. My mom picked out the emerald one for me since she loves green and I don't really lean towards green shades. The right pair are really unique and I haven't seen anything like these. The left pair were 100Rs each and the right pair were 30Rs each.

So let me know which pieces you like! Have you been to Sunday Bazaar lately?   Did you make any jewelry purchases lately? If so, let me know and comment below!

Quick Tip

[QUICK TIP] How to Mend a Broken Eyeshadow

Friday, October 07, 2011 Sidrah!!!! 22 Comments

Hello everyone!

I’m sure we have all experienced it, that heartbreaking moment when you find that your precious eyeshadow has broken into pieces. I realized soon after blogging that not many of you know how to mend broken powder makeup. Since rubbing alcohol isn't available here (hence why this is dedicated to my Pakistani readers) I have been using this technique for years and it has worked wonders on my powder foundation and mineral makeup. So fear no more! This technique will repair your makeup with just a few products.
From this hot mess:
To this prettiness:

What you will need:

  • Broken Powder Makeup- You can also use mineral makeup
  • Alcohol Prep Pads- Since Isopropyl Alcohol isn’t available here, this is a great alternative. These can be found at any Pharmacy for about 2 Rs per pad. You can use more than 2 depending on how moist the pad is. Make sure the pad contains more than 70% Isopropyl Alcohol
  • Empty Container- Make sure it is clean and dry, you don’t want to mix your makeup with dust and dirt.
  • Spatula- Something to scoop out the makeup into the container.
  • Object to Press your makeup- I used the end of an old makeup brush, you can also use a coin.

So let’s gets started!
Step 1: Gather your materials and make sure you have a clean surface to work with. Your gonna need some tissue for clean up.

Step 2: Taking your broken eyeshadow, the empty container and the spatula, you want to dump the product into the container. You can skip this step if your eyeshadow or powder makeup isn’t that badly damaged; since mine is really bad, I needed to do this step.
Step 3:  Clean off your eyeshadow pan. Make sure it’s free from any germs; you can use an Alcohol pad to make sure its sanitized. Taking your clean eyeshadow pan, start putting the product and spreading it out evenly. Don’t dump all of your makeup, you want to have one thin layer. Don’t worry we will place the rest of the makeup in a second layer.
Make sure your product is evenly distributed in the pan.

Step 5: Taking your Alcohol Prep Pad. Open it up and place it on top of your eyeshadow. With your object (or you can use your thumbs) press firmly on the eyeshadow. This is how it should look after you press it. If your prep pad isn’t moist enough, use another one and make sure the product is held together nicely.
This should be your result, make sure the powder is pressed together, I ended up using my fingers because the sides weren't getting pressed that well.

Step 6: Repeat Step 4 and 5 for the second layer.
Step 7: Voila! This is what your end result should be, make sure you clean up any product around the eyeshadow. Leave the product to dry for a few hours, if you see that the eyeshadow hasn’t mended properly then take another prep pad and press hard again. Its crucial to leave it to dry for a few hours.
I really hope that this helped you all, I wanted to share this because it’s heartbreaking to see a broken and bruised makeup product. Also, if you get annoyed by how messy mineral makeup is like me, this is a great way to press your shadows.

If anyone can recommend where I can find empty eyeshadow pans for cheap in Pakistan PLEASE let me know, I have had the worst luck finding empty pans.

If this helped you PLEASE leave me a comment. <3

Liz Earle,

[REVIEW] Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish

Sunday, October 02, 2011 Sidrah!!!! 6 Comments

Liz Earle skincare. I’ve never used their products prior to receiving the Cleanse & Polish but I must say I have really taken a liking to this product. The Cleanse & Polish comes with a pump bottle, 2 muslin wash cloths and a cute travel pouch. Just with one pump massaged into my face it almost feels as if the product is absorbed into my skin. After the first use I felt my skin feeling softer. I have a very oily t-zone and this product removes all the oil and dirt really easily without feeling dry.
