KARACHI: Maha Sarwar, Head of Student Advisory Board, and Pomme Gohar wore stunning outfits from Mausummery Lawn at the the press conference of the 4th LadiesFund Awards, held on 2nd March at the Ladies Fund office in Karachi.

Maha Sarwar chose a vibrant red outfit from Mausummery’s 2012 collection while Pomme Gohar wore a bright green outfit with embellishments around the neck.

Mausummery is one of the most well known lawn brands in the country, and this year Masummery launched their largest collection ever with more than 50 design/ color combinations. In 2012, Masummery celebrated its 15th anniversary with a number of milestones the biggest being the launch of their own flagship store in Dolmen City Mall, Karachi.

“Mausummery is concentrating on increasing and strengthening its brand presence with an emphasis on improving the brand’s retail presence both on the ground and in terms of e-commerce,” said Ayesha Mansoor, CEO of Masummery.

Mausummery is one of the supporters of the 4th LadiesFund awards and the winners of these awards will receive gifts from Mausummery Lawn. The award categories include awards such as the “Lifetime Achievement Award”, the “Trailblazer” award, the “Khushhali Bank Idol” award and the “Women of The Year”.
The judges have nominated five individuals for the ‘Women of the Year’ award including Ameena Saiyid for spearheading the groundbreaking 3rd Karachi Literary Festival, Hina Rabbani Khar for being the youngest and first ever female foreign minister of Pakistan, Sana and Safinaz for their contribution to lawn, Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy for her Oscar winning film ‘Saving Face’, and Sherry Rehman for her appointment as the Ambassador to United Sates.
All winners will receive a plaque, a top of the line Nokia smartphone, a Mausummery outfit amongst other gifts. The 4th Ladies Funds Awards is a high profile event which has previously received a lot of media attention.

The awards were held at Mohatta Palace on 15th March from 4 pm to 6: 30 pm. Women of substance are recognized and honored at these awards, which are quickly becoming known as the most high profile event of its kind to be held in Karachi.
The Ladies Fund is supported by the Dawood Global Foundation.

Spring is here and what better way to step into the bright sunny weather then with some colorful nails. With the weather changing so does my color palette. The OPI Nice Stems! Collection is right up my alley, with 4 pink polishes that will surely say spring is here.

The Collection was release for the Summer of 2011 and has now arrived in Pakistan. With the floral themed play on words that OPI are known for, these shades include a variety of finishes along with a sheer glitter polish that’s perfect for layering.

This shade is a soft creamy pink with a hint of shimmer. I don’t get why I have the hardest time getting light color polishes to not be streaky. To get an opaque coverage it took about 3 layers. This subtle shade is perfect for everyday wear.

Come To Poppy
This shade is a corally pink that shows up more pink. This is one of those polishes that looks more pink sometimes and others more coral depending on the light. This doesn't have a glossy finish, its more of a semi-matte with the slightest shimmer. This is my favorite out of the collection, it’s the most opaque and it looks gorgeous paired up with I Lily Love You! It took 2 layers to get an opaque coverage but you can get away with just a single layer.

Be a Dhal-ia Won’t You?

This is a bright fushia pink shade with tons of sparkles, this is one hot polish! It had the same opacity as Play the Peonies, it’s a bit sheer and took about 4 layers to get an opaque coverage. I love the sparkles in this polish, it really has a wow factor!

I Lily Love You

This is a very sheer pink glitter/flaky polish that has loads of multicolored particles. I had to layer it about 2-3 times to get enough glitter on my nails. The glitter has a variety of shapes and sizes. I paired it up with a few shades just to see how it would look. It looks the best paired with Come To Poppy and I think with pink polishes it'll look really great. I figured the glitter would show up more with a black base but it really didn't look that appealing. I wore it without a top coat and the particles didn't come off which is great if you don't have a top coat in hand.

To Sum it up:

This is a great variety of pink polishes, there is something for everyone. With these mini-polishes I would prefer if they were more opaque since you wouldn’t be using so much of the product if you are able to purchase these individually. All of the polishes were easy to work with except Play the Peonies which was a bit streaky for me, it can be an application issue so if you have never had any difficulties with light-shade polishes then it will work for you. Come to Poppy and Be A Dhal-ia Won’t You are definitely perfect for bright polish lovers. I Lily Love You is great if you want a touch of glitter on your nails but you will have to layer it on which then makes the polish turn a bit gloopy.

[HAUL] Born Pretty Store False Lashes Set and Brushes

More than a month ago I made a purchase from Born Pretty Store, gotta love friends with PayPal! So I got these a couple of days ago, I hate how long the shipping took but since they offer free shipping I can't really complain. They have a ton of good things in their store so after I made the purchase I found a few other things I really liked but I don't think I can wait so long to get them.

I'm really happy with the things I purchased. I bought the 15 piece brush set for $4.74 here and the false eyelash kit for $5.20 here. I wanted a good eyeliner brush and these are really good! The brushes are soft and not too stiff, most of these will work great for the eyes but the nail brushes I know I won't get much use out of. For the price these are really worth it even if you don't use every brush.

The eyelash set is really great! I wanted to get some really natural looking ones and these are really good, they are not too long and they give a nice fullness to your lashes.

The only thing I don't like is the box it comes in, its very flimsy and it did mess up a few lashes so I might end up making those into half lashes. The applicator is great for putting glue on the lashes but I prefer using tweezers to actually apply the lashes. With the applicator you can't really see what you are doing. The glue is pretty ok, you do have to apply a thick layer to get it to stick and it does dry fast so you have to be quick in applying your lashes.

These lashes feel like natural hair, really soft and don't have that plastic shine that generic lashes have. These have such better quality then synthetic hair lashes and can be used up to 25 times. The pair in You Complete Me have a flared look to them, shorter in the inner corner and longer on the outer corner giving you volume with a cat- eye look. These are just a tiny bit long for my small eyes so I was not sure to trim them or not but they worked out ok!

To Sum it up:

Prior to getting these I had never used false lashes before and I wasn't sure if I would get the hang of applying them but these were super easy to put on since the band is flexible and blends in well with your natural lash line. I do like how these give my lashes more volume and length. This pair is the most wearable available and they give a super dramatic look with the cat-eye flair. I will definitely be wearing these for bold eotds. A big advantage to mink lashes is that these will last a very long time, about 25 times depending on how well you take care of them. These hold a curl really well since the hair is really soft. I've used them a couple of times and I had always thought false lashes would be difficult to curl and these were really easy to do that. I've really been enjoying using these!

I have always been hesitant wearing a nude lip color. I always fear that it'll wash out my appearance. Luscious Cosmetics always offer a shade selection that will suit olive skin tones. When we look at other companies to find our perfect nude sometimes we end up with a pale lip that isn't flattering. The 5 lipsticks from their Signature Collection that I will be reviewing are all neutral shades perfect for everyday wear, the colors are very subtle with good color payoff. The overall collection has 16 shades, majority are very neutral tones with pinks and warm rosy shades with one or two vibrant colors. These have a semi-matte finish that is not at all drying on the lips even after a couple of hours. With a lip liner you can assure these will last for more than 3 hours.

The lipsticks come in an all plastic case. The packaging has a swatch at the bottom of the lipstick which is very accurate to the product shade. The case is really sturdy, not flimsy at all.

06 Creme Cocoa is a light nude shade that has a pink undertone

07 Moroccan Rose is a warm rosy pink which is more on the nude beige side. This is one of those "your lips but better" shades.

09 Pink Velvet is a light rosy pink with a hint of gold shimmer. The shimmer is really subtle. Its more pink then 06 Creme Cocoa

13 Coral Pink is a nude beige. I don't really notice the pink as described, its more of a light beige.

15 French Rose is a warm rosy pink shade. Its slightly toned down then 07 Moroccan Rose

To Sum it up:

The deepest shade out of these is 07 Moroccan Rose which is my favorite. All of these have a semi-matte finish that's very moisturizing. I love the formula of these because I prefer matte finish lipsticks but with these they don't make your lips look dry. The most nude shade out of these is 13 Coral Pink which isn't entirely coral as described. With a lipliner these wear comfortably for more than 3 hours. They are super creamy and easy to apply. I usually have a problem with lipsticks feathering on the outer corner of my lips, these didn't give any issue of application. These have a mild vanilla scent but its not over powering, its similar to the scent in their Lip Coutures.

What I like and dislike about these are the shade selection. Its great that each lip color is suitable for medium to tan skin tones but I wish that the collection offered more vibrant colors since some of these have very subtle difference between them.
