[REVIEW] Pixi Skincare + Fails!

Friday, December 29, 2017 Sidrah Beauty 1 Comments

Pixi Beauty has been one brand I’ve been tempted to try out for ages. When it comes to skincare, it’s difficult to find affordable products that actually work on the skin. Unfortunately my overall experience with Pixi wasn’t the best.
I picked out these 4 products based on online reviews and most of them have done nothing to my skin! I purchased these in July and have been using these regularly since then. Let's review these!
Glow Tonic
The most coveted product from the range, everyone and their mom raves about this product. I’m not sure what it is but I didn’t notice any change to my skin after using this consistently for a few weeks. I’ve read it takes about 2 weeks to notice any change but that wasn’t the case for me. The toner is great to removing excess dirt, it doesn’t lightly exfoliate as other toners I’m use to. It does contain Glycolic Acid so I’m still going to use this until I finish it up.
Glow Oxygen Mask
I mentioned this product in my fails of 2017, this has to be the worst mask I have ever tried. It’s a bubble mask that is supposed to bubble once applied on the skin. But does it do that? NOPE! When I apply it with my finger it doesn’t bubble at all and just sits there like soap. When I apply it with a brush it does bubble up but not enough to make a difference on the skin. A strong pass on this!
H2O Skin Drink
As I’ve gotten older my skin isn’t the same anymore, there’s more dryness and patched around certain areas so I wanted to get this to wear before applying any foundation. It has a gel/silicone texture which works well as a primer for makeup. I wouldn’t say this intensely hydrates my skin but it’s an OKAY product. It’s not a must have in any case.
Overnight Glow Serum
I was looking for a night serum to help with dryness, this is literally just Aloe Vera. It has a very tacky texture just like aloe vera and it doesn’t SINK into the skin at all. It doesn’t leave the skin smooth in the morning, I always wake up with tacky, dry skin in the morning after using this. I used this consistently and didn’t notice any change.
Flawless Beauty Primer
It's funny how a freebie ends up being a favorite from my haul lol! This is a very pretty glowly primer! It as a slight pink tint that brightens up the complexion. It applies beautifully and primes the skin really nicely with any foundation. I will definitely get a full size of this once I run out.
Mac Strobe Cream, Loreal Magic Lumi, Pixi Primer

Overall I’m so disappointed in the products I purchased from Pixi. What are your favorites from the brand?

Products I Regret Buying in 2017!

Wednesday, December 27, 2017 Sidrah Beauty 0 Comments

It’s the end of the year! Which means it’s time to reflect on all the money I spent on makeup and skincare. I definitely found some gems that I purchased however these products are some that didn't work for me, even with all the hype!
Pixie Glow Oxygen Mask
This year I bought a few pixie skincare products. This however was such a fail! This bubble mask does absolutely nothing for my skin. It barely bubbles and feels like a shower gel on the skin and it leaves behind a residue. This is a major no and a complete waste of money!

The Body Shop Hand Cream
I never go for The Body Shop products, usually when things go on sale I’ll see if I find something worth picking up. I wanted a good hand cream and heard amazing reviews about TBS line, this however was not hydrating enough. It smells amazing but my hands always feel dry after. Not recommended at all.

ColourPop Super Shock Highlighter – Lunch Money
It was the year of highlights and this one was so hyped! So many YouTube gurus mentioned this as their favorite but I can not figure out how to blend this on top of foundation. It looks patchy and not at all glowy. It’s just not enough glow!!

MAC Strobe Cream
Before I tried the Strobe Cream I had been using the Loreal Magic Lumi which I love! It’s very lightweight and glowy on the skin however the Mac Strobe Cream is so thick and feels heavy. I'm not sure if this one in particular is expired but it even has a strong off-putting scent. The consistency I don’t like at all and it doesn’t give a glow so I prefer going with the Lumi.

OFRA Cosmetics Liquid Lipsticks
Lastly, Ofra was a brand I discovered and bought during their sale so the Vintage Vineyard collection were at a very discounted rate. The formula is not at all long wearing and fades so easily. The colors are pretty but formula wise I prefer something to set on the lips to a flat matte finish. This has a more creamy consistency which will work for drier lips but I hardly reach for these since I know I’ll have to touch up in 2 hours if I do wear them. I hardly reach for these in my collection!

What were some of your product fails this year!?

Joie Salon & Spa Bloggers Day!

Sunday, November 05, 2017 Sidrah Beauty 36 Comments

There’s nothing more fabulous than a fun spa day with my fellow Pakistan Beauty Society members. With bloggers to amazing makeup artist, we were all invited to experience a day at Joie Salon & Spa to take a glimpse into their services and a little pampering.
Joie Salon & Spa Bloggers Day
Let me start by saying that their cappuccino was AMAZING, if you ever get a chance to visit the salon do not pass up on this cup of delight.
The décor at Joie Salon & Spa is absolutely elegant, the atmosphere is very calm and soothing with every employee available to assist you.
The refreshments were just YUM! Loved everything from the sweets to mini sandwiches.
 Hair wash station
The wall of Essie and OPI Polishes. The choices are endless.

The Manicure + Pedicure
Before starting our manicure and pedicure, we were given a few options to select our choice of homemade scrub exclusive to the salon. There were 5 choices ranging from a Rose to Tropical. I went for the floral scent, these scrubs are VERY unique and smell so fresh and leaves behind a soothing aromatic fragrance.

Everyone needs to pamper themselves once in a while, and Joie gave the best possible experience including their comfortable back massager while you get your service. The manicure and pedicure both were done with precision, my hands and feet have never happier!  The exhilarating foot spa was one of the best I’ve experienced by far!

A regular pedicure starts at 1,200Rs and goes up to 1,700Rs depending on which scrub and polish you choose. A manicure starts at 900Rs and goes up to 1,200Rs.

Hair Oiling
The next treatment I opted for was the hair oiling, since the weather has been drier than ever my hair needed a little pick me up. The hair oiling is done in the massage room and it's followed up with a back and shoulder massage. The hair oil is all organic and had a vibrant rose scent which felt amazing on the hair and body. The same oil was used in the massage. Priced at only 1,500Rs I'm definitely going to visit the salon again for this treatment!
Massage Room
The hair oiling is followed up with a hair steam to seal in all the moisture. The steam was very calm and relaxing, I loved how my hair felt during this process!
My hair post steam! My hair was washed and blowdried after the steam process. It only took one wash to cleanse away the hair oil, it didn't weight my hair down like most hair oils tend to do so. Even after the hair wash the rose fragrance still lingered on!

Lovelies from Pakistan Beauty Society
Overall the experience was amazing, I can't thank the staff at the salon enough for guiding me on their services. I highly recommend everyone to drop by Joie, their services are endless! Thank you to Pakistan Beauty Society and Team Joie Ayesha and Shamaila for inviting me to such a fabulous experience!

[REVIEW] Wet N Wild MegaGlo Highlighting Powders

Saturday, September 30, 2017 Sidrah Beauty 0 Comments

Wet n' Wild Precious Petals Highlighter
When it comes to highlighters, I'm in a committed relationship with Wet n' Wild. There's no comparison to these highlighters than anything in my collection. While I do own the ABH Glow Kit, I reach for these 2 highlights more often for a beautiful ethereal glow. If you haven't tried these highlights yet, you are missing out!
Precious Petals MegaGlo Highlighting Powder is a medium rose gold with a metallic sheen. The texture is very creamy that applies easily with any powder brush.
Hollywood Boulevard (now Boozy Brunch) Shimmer Palette is a true champagne gold with a metallic sheen. The texture is very smooth and applies like a dream!
For an intense sheen spray a little I'd say spray a little fixing mist on your brush after you dip into the product. These are already so metallic that this step helps to keep the highlighter on all day.
Let's Talk About It:
For the most pearlized sheen to your skin, do NOT sleep on Wet N Wild. These are the most beautiful powders I have in my collection hands down. I've owned Hollywood Boulevard (now Boozy Brunch) for about 3+ years now, it was the first true highlighter I ever purchased and it has yet to fail me. Not to mention I have so much product still in the pan. I don't feel the urge to buy any high end highlighter after purchasing this. The true champage tone is so flattering on our desi skin tone.

My newest pick is the Precious Petals highlighter, while it's different more creamy consistency I find it gives a little less of a sheen to the skin. The tone has a pink-rose gold hue which looks lovely on an every day look. For a brighter pop I always use a fixing mist on my brush after I've dipped into the product.

These shimmery powder highlighters can be applied anywhere from the cheekbones to the eyes for a touch of color and a whole lot of glow. Overall I'd say these are a must have for any highlighter junkie, even if you're into high-end makeup these will not disappoint.

For purchasing these are for $4.99 but are available on various Facebook pages for about 800-1100PKR.

Elemis,

Elemis Eventone Facial at Amethyst Spa by Roohi

Friday, September 29, 2017 Sidrah Beauty 11 Comments

Thinking about a facial? With plenty of salons in Karachi, it's hard to find the best salon that offers an amazing luxurious experience. I recently was invited to visit Amethyst Spa by Roohi for an Elemis Facial. With my complexion looking a little dull, I was up for the treatment and I have to admit I'm not at all regular when it comes to salon visits. So what can you expect with a Elemis Facial?
Samples with every Elemis Facial
Analyzing Your Skin Needs
Before starting the treatment, the facialist asked about my skin and mapped it for any issues that appeared visible. For me, my skin texture was normal but the pigmentation and spots were the issues she wanted to target. Thus leading to the Eventone White Brightening Facial. The facial with ELEMIS can fulfil your individual requirements in a way that helps with your skin.

Steps in the Elemis Eventone White Brightening Facial:
  • White Flower Eye And Lip Makeup Remover
  • White Bright Even Tone Cleanser
  • Papaya Enzyme Peel For Exfoliater
  • White Bright Even Tone Lotion For Toner
  • White Bright Even Tone Oil For Massage
  • White Bright Even Tone Peel Off Mask
  • White Bright Even Tone Serum
  • Pro Collagen Lifting Treatment Neck And Bust Cream
  • Pro Collagen Eye Renewal Cream
  • Liquid Layer SPF 30 Sunblock

What To Expect:
Everyone has their own personal experience when it comes to a salon visit, personally Amethyst has always been a wonderful experience for me and the people that I've referred to.

The facial started with the makeup removal process to cleanse off any residue left. It's always easier to go in care skin. Since my skin is prone to blackheads and large pores, the Cleanser and Exfoliator really helped to revitalize my skin. Let me say ever single product used on my skin SMELLED absolutely refreshing and relaxing. Nothing was over powering. Once my pores were cleared, the blackhead extraction took place which is always painful but pain is beauty lol.

The oil massage on the skin felt invigorating. Since my skin is prone to clogging I was a little skeptical but the Elemis White Brightening Even Tone Facial Oil is a brightening and anti-aging facial oil treatment with Daisy, Sophora & Kiwi extracts to lessen the appearance of dark spots and age spots. The massage absorbed all of the oil into the skin without feeling heavy.

Next the peel off mask came in a paste form that slightly dried on the skin. It felt very hydrating and not at all drying. My skin felt drenched at this point in the facial! The neck and shoulder massage was very relaxing.

To wrap up the facial, the eye renewal cream was applied and gently massaged into the skin. The facialist was extra gentle on the eyes and mapped out pressure points around the eye area to stimulate blood circulation.

I love that the facial ended with an application of SPF so you can head out right after and not worry about applying any product on your skin. And with the samples provided at the end of the facial, I have been following up with the Eventone range to keep my skin's pigmentation under control.

Did I forget to mention that for 30 minutes of the 1 hour facial there is a hand and foot massage accompanying you? I've yet to experience a facial that included this in the package. Not to mention that for a limited time you can receive free samples and 10% OFF your Elemis facial.

And lastly my facial was finished off with a little Detox Tea! How adorable is this steal tea cup?!
Thank you to the team at Cosmo Group for inviting me to experience such a relaxing spa day. For more information visit Amethyst Spa by Roohi on Facebook and Instagram.
