[REVIEW] Hard Candy Glamoflauge Concealer in Tan
There's no doubt how much this concealer has been talked and raved about! I finally got my hands on the Hard Candy Glamoflauge concealer. Was it worth the hype?
Swatch Application:
I applied the concealer in a very thin layer starting from the inner corner of my eye and blending it out. I applied a second thin layer to build up pigmentation. I used the concealer pencil on my waterline.
Let's Talk About It:
I've never been a fan of liquid concealers. Since my undereyes are very dark, a liquid product fails to conceal. I bought the Rimmel Match Perfection concealer months ago after it was so hyped about and I didn't like it for concealing. I needed to apply 2-3 layers to cover my dark circles and after about 3 months I ran out of the product. Also I hated the brush, it ate up most of the product. I wanted to compare the Hard Candy concealer to the Rimmel one since many have already tried the later because its readily available in the market.
The Hard Candy comes with 0.71oz of product while Rimmel comes with 0.23 fl oz. The packaging comes in an easy squeeze tube that dispenses the exact amount of product that you need.
I picked the shade Tan since I tend to go for darker concealers for the coverage..anything lighter will just leave a grey cast. Tan is more on the beige/olive tone, it looks darker in the tube then as swatched while 060 Natural Beige is more of a deep orange.

The Hard Candy concealer beats Rimmel for pigmentation by a mile! You need the smallest pin size dot to cover your entire under eye. Since Tan is more olive toned, it covers the dark circles amazingly. I tend to apply this in thin layers and build up pigmentation to prevent it from creasing. If you apply too much product it will settle into any fine lines. I've tried this on top of a red blemish on my nose and it covered it really well and lasted all day with a setting powder.
The concealer is very thick and greasy, the tiniest amount goes a long way. The product is filled with oil, even the scent of the concealer has a weird oil smell. While the oil makes it effortless to blend out, it doesn't set into the skin like the Rimmel one does. Instead it just sits on top of the skin and slips all over the place. In order to set it, I use a powder puff and press my face powder directly onto the concealer. I noticed that it will crease if I set it using a brush. The puff tends to absorb a bit of the oil.
Overall I like the Hard Candy concealer, I don't think everyone will like this one since its tricky to work with at first. I wouldn't recommend it to those with a lot of fine lines since the greasy texture settles into them.

Thanks for detailed review, as usual, I liked ur idea of using pencil of concealer on the water line, this means I dont have to order a separate nude shade pencil if I get it :)

ReplyDeletewhile i lovee the rimmel match perfecting concealer, i agree that it runs out very quickly! i hate that rimmel has raised the price to almost 850 compared to 650 two years back. the hard candy one does seem like a better investment, what would you say about its brightening power? i love rimmel for its illuminating effects.
ReplyDeletethe Hard candy one isn't brightening but I do prefer that in my concealer since most that give a brightening effect leaves a grey cast. I'd say if you want heavy coverage go for this and pair it with another lighter concealer.
Deleteit does look natural.I really wanted to buy it.This product has been sitting in my wishlist for the longest time.however I think i will leave it because of the oil-problem.Thankyou for the great review.xoxo
ReplyDeleteI've been curious about this concealer for a really long time. But the fact that it is oily is a bit disconcerting!
