Maybelline Bloggers Meetup!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Ramzan. A few weeks ago I attended a Bloggers Meetup held by Maybelline to promote their line of Color Show nail polishes. I got to meet a few lovely bloggers from Karachi. Here's a look at the meetup!
The event was held at The Forum Mall where LOPAK's offices are located. They house L'oreal, Garnier, Maybelline and a few other brands. Me and Rabiyah of Rabeeyah's Blog arrived together because of the crazy traffic. Once we entered we noticed the gigantic displays of the new Garnier BB cream and artwork was displayed throughout their offices of various cosmetic brands. I absolutely adored the set up for the bloggers meetup, they had fun stands and gigantic Color Show Nail Polishes for display and nail polishes scattered throughout the room. They did an amazing job creating a fun atmosphere for the meetup. 

Hina and Wafa of Maybelline hosted the event. In attendance were Maliha of The Curious Red Alice, Naimal of Peachy Pout, Nida of Glitter Smitter and Rabiyah. I absolutely loved meeting Nida and Rabiyah again after such a long time, it was also fun to meet Naimal and Maliha for the first time. Maliha definitely livened the bloggers meetup so I hope to meet these ladies again! 


The purpose of the meetup was to introduce the Color Show Range with included a nail art session by a nail art expert along with us doing our own nail art afterwards. They showed us a video once the meetup started about how the Color Show range was inspired by fashion week.

The best part about the meetup was the goodie bag. It was completely unexpected to see my name embossed on the maybelline nail pouch. This is something that I can keep with me in remembrance of the meetup, love this! It's super cute and I'm planning to sew in pockets so that I can use this as a travel makeup case. I got the shade Pink Shock, which everyone loved this polish color. Its a super bright neon pink.

Let's Talk About It:
The spray is formulated for wavy/curly folks who want a bit of texture to their locks. With my wavy hair, I generally try to comb less to keep the waves in place otherwise they just end up falling straight. The Soy Renewal Beach Spray promises to add a bit of texture and to create soft beach waves. I really like the nozzle of this bottle, it’s easy to spray while it diffuses the product evenly.

The spray adds a bit of stiffness/grittiness similar to hairspray- kinda like spending a day out at the beach and you end up with sandy hair. I’ve tried this on damp hair and it didn’t work out as well as I had hoped, the stiffness felt as if it was weighing down my hair.

The ideal way to use this is on dry hair, flipping your hair upside down and spray the ends while bunching up your hair to create waves. It does add a little bit of volume to the ends of my hair, I didn’t like the effect of it near my roots since it didn’t do much. 

Overall this is ideal for longer/wavy hair if you want to add some texture to your locks, I’m not sure how this would work for straight hair types but this can be used as a light hairspray to hold in any curls.

Online shopping has opened up a portal to try out new brands, Daraz.pk is one of thoes all-under-one-roof fashion sites with a variety of shoes, handbags, outfits for men and women a whole lot more. I really love the variety of items on the site and especially the sale section which I am always a sucker for! I got the chance to shop on the site with a giftcard worth 1000rs so I picked out a pair of Silver sparkly heels. While browsing on the site, I wanted to pick out a handbag but I couldn't decide on what I wanted. I like how the site mentions the size and dimensions of everything. 
 
After I placed my order, I immediately got a confirmation after about 10 mins. Then after about 2 days I got another call for my order to be shipped. The site mentioned that my order will be delivered within a week so I was surprised I received it within 3 days. I really like the quality of the heels, I have yet to wear them out. The size is a tad bit too big for me but they do have a return policy if you do end up with the wrong size.

[REVIEW] Osmo Deep Intensive Repair Mask

Ever since I decided to grow my hair out, it’s been needing a bit if TLC. Just using conditioner isn’t enough so I decided to purchase the Osmo Deep Intensive repair mask. I tried looking for a deep hair mask at Naheed and I couldn’t find anything so I purchased this from Just4Girls after reading rave reviews about it.

The conditioner is a thick cream mask, kinda similar to texture of toothpaste. It has a very delicate coconuty scent which doesn’t linger after you’ve washed your hair. I’ve been trying to find a good deep conditioner and I did purchase the Palmers Olive Oil Deep Moisturizing conditioner and it made my hair fall drastically just after the first use.

I’ve used this conditioner about 2 times a week and I’m okay with the results. I apply a tablespoon amount on just at the ends of my hair and let it sit for about 5 minutes. Usually I wash my hair on either a second or third day since my hair gets dried out easily. My hair feels more manageable, less tangled and doesn’t fall out as much after I started using this, I noticed a slight change in the texutre of my hair after the first wash. My hair doesn't feels weighed down which is great since my scalp gets oily after the second day. It doesn't help with reducing frizz which I end up using a light serum to help lessen it. 

Overall I don't see a drastic change in the texture of my hair but I'm sure there are plenty of other conditioners that can do the same. You don't get a lot of quantity with this product, only 100ml for 390rs. With my long hair I'm sure I will end up finishing this in about 2-3 months. 

I don't really recommend this product for someone who's looking for a deep 'intensive' treatment. Those looking for tangle-free hair and a bit of softness this will work for you.

[REVIEW] Rimmel Apocalips in Apocalyptic

Some serious hot pink lips coming you way! I’ve been madly obsessed with hot pink lips lately especially with the hot summer months I love wearing something bold and bright. I picked up the much talked about Rimmel London Apocalips in Apocalyptic after hearing amazing reviews on it. Lets see how it worked out for me!

Apocalyptic is a vibrant off-the-charts hot fuschia pink. It’s a gorgeous shade, I picked this one up because it stood out the most for me compared to the other shades in the range.

Let's talk about it:
The consistency of the lip lacquer is very thick and rich so you get a good color payoff even with the thinnest layer of application. With a thin application is dries matte but with a full coverage application it has a satin texture finish.

 The applicator is really unique in delivering product on your lips. With the formula being very creamy and opaque you just need a little amount to cover your entire lips. It has a dense center so you get too much product on the applicator. Because the shade I picked is so intensely vibrant, the dense center works horribly. I end up with too much product on my lips which then transfers onto my teeth. I tend to use a lip brush for a precise application then I go over it with the applicator wand if I want a rich color. 

 Although I love the color, I prefer wearing it with a thin layer which gives a soft wash of color without looking too bold. I love how you can tone down the color to make it more daytime-friendly. The product does settle into fine lines on the lips after a few hours when the gloss texture wears off. Although it doesn’t dry out my lips, it does feel a bit tight. The staying power does last for hours without touchups, I prefer applying a bit of lip balm if I notice it settling into fine lines.

 Overall, I love the whole concept of these but with such a bright color the applicator is really a pain to work with since applies too much product.

[REVIEW] Maybelline The Colossal Kajal

Black eyeliners are a staple makeup item in every makeup routine. I love a nice creamy and smooth eyeliner that lasts all day. Generally when I wear eyeliner I expect it to not smudge or budge after hours of wear. With that said the latest product by Maybelline is The Colossal Kajal  Available in Black, let’s find out how this worked out!

I’m sure everyone has seen the video advertisement of this eyeliner, what stood out to me was the intense and crisp cat eyeliner on the model.

Let's Talk About It:
The Colossal Kajal is a retractable eyeliner that twists up to reveal more product. I love using these types of liners since you waste less product compared to a pencil. The formula of this eyeliner is a bit drying compared to other liners I’ve tried including Avon Glimmersticks and Essence Long-Lasting Eye Pencils. 

 If I wear it on my upper eyelid, it feels tight and uncomfortable after 3 hours of wear. On the waterline it applies well without tugging, but the color isn’t as rich as I would prefer. Since it is a kajal, wearing it only on the waterline can save you from raccoon eyes. What I liked about this is that it didn’t smudge at all but the color intensity did fade after about 3-4 hours.

Overall, I don’t find myself reaching for this eyeliner often. There are better eyeliners out there in the market, I highly recommend the Essence Long-Lasting Eye Pencil if you are on hunt for a rich creamy twist up eyeliner in different colors.
